On the way back from the Shinhotaka Ropeway to the top of Maruyama Peak,
we were treated to the famous ramen at the lodge, and when we went outside,
we found some Eurasian Bullfinch, who seemed to be their mates, also eating
at the lodge garden. The menu was Japanese knotweed seeds.

That summer had the second Midsummer Day of the Ox. It's eel eating day.
Eels are now out of reach, a luxury item, a premium, endangered species..!
But one afternoon, as you can see, this luxurious bird tasted 2 eels before my eyes!
They were domestically produced, Japanes eel! Even if it was Shinshu eel,
it ate 2 eels !!

The location was on the ridge between Mt.Maejounen and Mt.Jonen.
I took a secret(?) photo of the female taking a sand bath...
The male was chirping "guess guess" in the pumila a little distance
away.

I encountered them near the summit of Mt. HakubaNorikura in early March.
There was not much snow for that time of year because the snow was blown away by the strong winds.
They were male and female, but I don't know if they were a pair.
They were still in their winter plumage, so can you tell which one is male and which one is female?

It was pecking at something vigorously. Just like a sparrow.
What was this bird pecking at so much? I took a picture and, as you can
see, it was rice.
The location was Gohouden, and there was quite a bit of rice lying around.
Was it learning from the sparrows?

The point we have to look at is the toes.
This egret usually has yellow toes. The species name can be confirmed by the color of the toes.
However, as shown in the photo, there are seasonal breeding colors.
Egret also change their lores color.

This bird often appears at bird watching events, so it is a standard supplement
to help
you get out of a bird watching slump.
Regarding the red feathers on the male's head, I think many people have
taken photos of them.
It looks cool to see a glimpse of it, but it looks like there are not just
one or two red feathers
(or maybe three?)

"Hey, have you ever looked inside bird mouth?"
It is a standard topic.
How about looking for bird points that you'll be happy to see?
Depending on the species, there are various points such as legs, eye color, and feather color.
This is a supplement that may help those who are stuck in a bird watching slump to escape.
Maybe You'll fall in love again? However, it is not as effective as the first time you see it.

Mountain Hawk-Eagle invaded Jungle Crow's territory,
so Crow had to chase Eagle out. Was it aggressive or fearless?
Well, they also come towards people during the breeding season.
